  14. <p>     DIED. Howard Head, 76, inventor of the Head metal ski and
  15. the Prince tennis racquet; in Baltimore. An aircraft engineer,
  16. Head helped design and build planes in World War II. In 1948
  17. he applied his expertise to replacing the traditional bulky
  18. wooden ski with an aluminum model. The Head Ski Co.'s new
  19. product was as big a hit with the public as with the Olympic
  20. medal winners who used it. Following the company's sale in
  21. 1971, Head joined the Prince Manufacturing Co. and
  22. revolutionized the tennis racquet. His design improved the
  23. games of countless players by almost quadrupling the sweet spot
  24. of the racquet.
